Four Decades of Experience
Born and raised in Houston, Texas, John Flood has dedicated over 45 years to military and federal government service, fueled by a strong passion for teaching and firearms training. At the age of 19, John enlisted in the U.S. Navy on September 13, 1972, embarking on a 23-year career that spanned 17 years overseas and 6 years stateside. As a Cryptologic Technician, he performed Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) operations aboard shore-based installations, four US Naval surface combatant ships, and over 4000 flight hours and 350 missions aboard EP-3 reconnaissance aircraft with two squadrons. Promoted to Chief Petty Officer in 1983, he took on roles supporting Direct Support SIGINT operations and served as the Command’s Chief of Police at Naval Security Group Activity Skaggs Island. His extensive weapons training includes certifications on the M1911A1 .45 Service Pistol, M14 and M16 Rifles, Remington 870 Shotgun and Remington 700 Sniper Rifle, and the M60 Machine Gun.
After retiring from the Navy in October 1995, John continued his commitment to service and education. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Information Systems Management and has taught network systems courses at Pensacola State College. As a certified firearms instructor with credentials from the NRA, USCCA and Texas Department of Public Safety, John offers a comprehensive range of courses including pistol shooting, Texas License to Carry, concealed carry, home defense, and women’s handgun safety. John’s mission is to provide safe, responsible, and proficient firearms education, empowering individuals with the confidence and skills needed for personal protection and responsible firearm ownership.
